Full Description

NL69NE 5 667 997.

An Tigh Clach: At an elevation of 500ft OD there is a mound referred to locally as the stone house, often a term which indicates a chambered cairn. This site, some 40ft in diameter, does not have the mass of stones necessary to be a ruined cairn, and as robbing is highly improbable in this remote area it seems possible that this is a settlement site comparable with Tigh Talamanta (NF60SE 2).
I A Crawford 1965e.

In spite of an extensive search in the area from Loch Uisge (NL 6633 9998) to the W side of Heaval at NL 670 995 no trace of a green mound of the above dimensions could be found. There are numerous mounds in the area, varying in size from 3.0m to 5.0m in diameter, some with ruined sheilings on top, but none of these had the appearance of a cairn. The only mounds which could be "Tigh Clach" were located at NL 6703 9963 and NL 6696 9950, measuring 9.0m and 8.0m in diameter respectively and 0.6m high. Each contained a few stones on their surface but these were insufficient for classification as a cairn or an aisled house, and may possibly have been tumble from the overhanging cliffs. No further information about this site could be obtained.
