Full Description
NL69NW 5 6494 9947.
(NL 649 994) A small, incomplete, stone circle, of 22ft. internal diameter, apparently the remains of a small chambered cairn from which the cairn material has been completely robbed, stands close to the north side of a track from the croft (NL 6500 9953) to a gate in the hill fence to the west. Within the SE perimeter is a rectangular setting of 6 stones enclosing an area 5 1/2 ft. by 4 ft.
E A Cormack 1964; Information orally from Dr Cormack including plan to OS.
NL 6494 9947. As described and planned by Cormack except that the rectangular setting of 6 stones enclose an area 1.8m x 1.5m. The circle of stones has a diameter of 7.3m and an average height of about c0.4m. The stones shown outside the circle to the NW, on Dr Cormack's plan, are not connected with it. Possibly the denuded remains of a small ? chambered cairn.
Visited by OS (W D J) 17 May 1965.
"I have not had the opportunity of examining the site, but a verbal report from an observer makes me doubtful about the identification as a chambered tomb."
