On a site associated with the Bishopric of the Isles, I A Crawford located a large mound of black earth and tumbled stone which revealed much pottery, some decorated with an applied wavy fillet.

VN98 (NL622959) A high, steep-sided grassed mound 15 x 12 m with embedded stone blocks in many areas and heaps of stones, probably distrubed/robbed for wall building but unused. We believe a mound of this size, 3-4 m high, must cover a very substantial structure, possibly an Iron Age 'broch', although a mediaeval structure is also possible.
