Full Description
NA10NE 1 15 05.
According to Miss Anne Kennedy, writing in 1862, there was once a 'teampull' or chapel on the island of Boreray. Miss Euphemia Macrimmon (born 1800) remembered having seen it. It was built with hewn stones, but by 1862 there was but one stone left, on which there was 'writing', the remainder having been used to build 'cleitean'. Mathieson (J Mathieson 1928) searched for this stone when he surveyed the island in the early 1920's, but without success.
A Kennedy and F W L Thomas 1875; J Mathieson 1928.
Access to Boreray was not possible at time of visit.
Visited by OS (J L D) 12 August 1967.
