Full Description

NB00SW 1 0456 0123.

(Area : NB 045 012) What may have been a dun or cairn (40ft in diameter and 10ft high) lies on the east side of Taransay, about 100 yards from the shore and about 1/2 mile N of Corran Raah. It is a truncated cone of stones, in such a dilapidated state that, without excavation, it is impossible to tell its character.
The outer face of a wall (probably of late construction) appears in various parts of the mound.
RCAHMS 1928, visited 17 July 1914.

This knoll, at NB 0456 0123, is almost certainly a natural sand dune, not an antiquity. The stones are tumble from a recent retaining wall around the edge of the summit.
Visited by OS (A A) 7 July 1969.
