Full Description

(NB 0128 0077) Clach an Teampuill (NR) Chapel (NR) (Site of)
OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 2nd ed., (1903)

Clach an Teampuill is a rough four-sided pillar stone, 5ft 9ins high, bearing an incised Latin cross on its western face (RCAHMS 1928).
Thomas states that although there was no tradition of a church at Uidh he had no doubt that there was one there formerly. A circular bronze brooch, 3ins in diameter, found at Uidh, is in the NMAS.
RCAHMS 1928, visited 17 July 1914; F W L Thomas 1863.

Clach an Teampuill is a cross-incised standing stone as described.
There is no trace of a chapel at the site shown on the OS 6"map, (1903), an unlikely situation on a slope, but immediately to the east of the stone there is a small platform oriented E-W which could be the footings of a building but it is impossible to say if it is the chapel.
Visited by OS (A A) 7 July 1969.

Site as described by A A. This site is in stable condition.
