(one of) a series of five, well-preserved, 'Norse' mills is set on the stream leading down from Loch Bharabhat to the Traigh na Berie. ... At least one of the others has its millstones in situ. Traces of an artificial water channel lie next to the present course of the stream.

'The monument known as Loch Baravat, horizontal water-mills N of comprises remains of a group of five early nineteenth century horizontal water mills. The area to be scheduled is rectangular and measures a maximum of 140m N-S by 30m E-W to include all of the mills and the lades.'
