Full Description

NB10NE 1 1970 0601.

A polished stone axe-head, 4 3/4" by 2 1/2" by 1 1/8", of dense greyish-black rock resembling porcellanite, was found at a depth of 2 1/2' between peat and gravel behind a house in Maaring (NB 20 06).
The axe-head, which appears to have been re-sharpened, remains in the possession of the finder, who reported the discovery.

According to the finder, this polished stone axe (still in his possession was) found in 1966 whilst digging out the foundations for an extension on the N side of his house at NB 1970 0601.
