A crofting township, comprising thirty-two roofed buildings, one of which is annotated as an inn, one partially roofed building and twelve unroofed structures of which at least six are annotated as 'Ruin' is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1853, sheet 25). The crofting township has expanded as shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).
