NB24NE 5 28 48.
(NB 28 48) "Axe of indurated claystone, imperfect at the butt, 3 3/8 ins in length by 1 3/4 ins in breadth at the cutting edge; sub-conical shorl of micaceous schist, 1 1/2 ins in diameter: both found some 300 yards distant from the kitchen-midden at Bragar (NB24NE 4 ) and same distance from the beach", given to NMAS by Murdo Morrison, Corresponding Member. Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1917.
Mr Morrison is dead. No further information.
Visited by OS (R L) 17 June 1969.
This axe is held in the Royal Museum of Scotland under accession number HR 634. It has been petrologically attributed to group IX (porcellanite from Tievebulliagh and Rathlin, Northern Ireland).
