Full Description
NB33SE 1 3992 3410.
Towards the S shore of, and about 600 yards from the W end of Loch Airidh na Lic, is a submerged structure of stone and wood, probably a crannog. Wooden logs were noticed in the structure when the level of the loch was lowered in 1902.
RCAHMS 1928, visited 15 June 1914.
The remains of this crannog are visible as a pile of stones approximately 10m in diameter, protruding about 0.2m above the surface of the loch. No trace of logs can now be seen.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS 5 July 1969.
Underwater survey in 1985 produced no evidence of timber structures.
The water is very dark and proximity to Stornoway has led to the deposition of a wide variety of modern domestic contamination.
