Full Description

NB35SE 6 392 542.

There is said to be a submerged building and causeway, 'only once seen above water in the last 20 years' nearer the S end of Loch an Duin that the dun (NB35SE 4) and on the same side.
RCAHMS 1928, visited 11 July 1914.

All that can be seen of this 'building' is a small islet composed of a few stones, just protruding above the surface of the loch in the area centred NB 392 542, some 50m S of the dun (NB35SE 4). There is no trace of a causeway. This may be merely a shallowing of the loch.
Visited by OS 20 June 1969.

This site is visible on aerial photographs taken by Professor D W Harding. The water clarity is very poor, however, and no underwater work of any substance could be carried out; disturbance of the loch bed sediments quickly led to nil visibility.
T N Dixon and P G Topping 1986.
