"Dun Ghrais at Gress " No particulars but "noted on the authority of Mr M Macphail".
F W L Thomas 1890.

The vice-rector of the Nicolson Institute who has charge of themuseum collection does not known of this site.
Visited by OS (A L F R) assistent archaeology officer 22 April 1964.

This site lies within a large area of crofts, nothing is visible on site other than occaissional large stones that appear to mark out earlier croft boundaries. The eroding coastal edge indicates a made up ground surface overlieing machair sand; the extent of this activity is unclear.
