Full Description

NB46SE 3 4747 6142.

Three penannular silver Viking armlets and two silver finger-rings, of about the 10th century, were found under 5ft of peat in the Moss of Dhibadail, Ness, about 3/4 mile W of South Dell, by Mr Smith. They were acquired by the NMAS in February 1939.

The findspot of the hoard, discovered in 1938, was pointed out by Mr A Smith (A Smith, 3 Aird, Barvas), nephew of the finder, at NB 4747 6142. Visited by OS (N K B) 15 June 1969.
