(NB 5165 3174) Clach Stein ( Druidical) (OE)
OS 6"map, Ross-shire, 2nd ed., (1899)

Standing Stone, 'Clach Stein',.... a large broken prostrate monolith. It has been 10ft in length, 2ft 8ins in breadth and about the same in thickness. There are several blocks of stone of inconsiderable size in the immediate vicinity."
RCAHMS 1928, visited 1914.

The stone is split into two parts, 1.5m by 0.8m and 1.4m by 0.6m, the lower portion partly embedded in the soil, at an angle: 1.5m north of it stands a smaller stone, protruding 0.8m above the ground: this is 0.6 by 0.3m in size. The surrounding moor has at one time been cultivated and old dykes and clearance heaps protrude through the peat.
Visited by OS (A L F R) assistant archaeology officer, 23 April 1964.

'The monument...comprises of a fallen monolith, probably of late Bronze Age date. Beside it is another large prostrate stone. The area to be scheduled is circular and has a diameter of 22m, to include the stones, the mound on which they sit and the bank to the N.'
HS Scheduling Document 17 Februaury 1992.
