A Thom 1967.
Situated on a low mound above the bank of a stream is a triangular standing stone of Lewis gneiss, 1.7m high x 18.m wide x 0.5m thick. There is no evidence of the other structure shown on Thom's plan. Visited by OS (R D) 16 July 1971.
'The monument...comprises a standing stone, probably erected in the late Bronze Age, situated on a low mound above the N bank of a stream, the Allt na Muilne. The area to be scheduled is circular and has a maximum diameter of 25m to include the standing stone and surrounding mound.'
HS Scheduling Document 24 Februaury 1992.
This single stone is probably the sole remaining cist stone of a small chambered cairn. The low mound is clearly of selected stones, and the standing stone marks the southern edge of a soil-filled hollow in the mound, probably the remains of the chamber, which appears to open to the east. To the south of the mound is an artificial terrace, edged with stone. The whole is overgrown with heather.
