Ruins "scarcely traceable. It is said to have been formerly surrounded by a deep and broad ditch over which was a drawbridge, and that it was surrounded by a deep and almost impassable marsh ..."
Name Book 1852.

"A circular tower in a bog, now entirely removed".

The site of Dun Sleibhe is marked by a slight dry rise in an area of marshy ground at NB 5050 6267.
Visited by OS (R L) 13 June 1969.

Two unroofed buildings are shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis, Ross-shire 1853, sheet 10). No structures are depicted on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1992).
