Full Description
no. 32
A curvilinear alignment of stone defines a bank edging an area of former strip cultivation. The position of the feature and its irregular curving form suggest that it may have formed some form of levee for Loch na Cuilc at a period of higher water level. Its construction is distinct from any other feature in the vicinity.
Armit 1992, 56
This feature is still extant and is as descibed above. A large machair dune is situated above this feature to the north and east. Additionally at roughly the same contour line (north and east) rabbit burrowing has produced midden material, comprising of shell and bone. Two ceramic fragments were recovered, one showing possible grass marks to exterior; this tentatively suggests a Late Iron Age / Early Medieval date.
