Name applies to a cluster of ruinous shielings, built of peat sods and stones. {OS 1:10,000 map, 1973 shows a single rectangular shieling at 275m OD on the W slope of Rapaire.}
Name Book, Ross-shire (Insular)

Two unroofed shieling-huts annotated as Ruins are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 40). One unroofed building is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
