Name applies to a ruined shieling, built of peat sods and stones. {OS 1:10,000 map, 1973 shows two shieling-huts as dots at about 50m OD, S of the stream Gil Airigh Aulaidh, at NB 1485 1221 and NB 1490 1221.}
Name Book, Ross-shire (Insular)

One unroofed shieling-hut annotated as a Ruin is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 40). Two black dots denoting shieling-huts are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
