A particularly interesting example of a limekiln stands close to the N of the Presbytery and Church of St Michael at Ardkenneth. In July 1956, the Rev John Morrison, stated that this had been constructed at the time when the presbytery and church were built, in 1827, for the sole purpose of providing lime for the builders.
