MY 49. A circle of small stone blocks (c. 7m diameter) with a large standing block set on the S side and a small inner setting of stones set against the N side. This may be a prhistoric site of uncertain type; it is larger and more complex than the normal 'shelter'.
NMRS, MS/595/11.

MY49 (NL55198145) Stone circle.
Location: Flat shelf above cliff.
Description: MY49 can be found on a flat, grass-covered and very gently sloping area that leads down to the denuded rock that exists in an irregular strip just above the foreshore along the extreme southern coastline of the island. This circle, of not very large stones set in a 7 m diam. ring, looks out to Berneray and the nearer islands of Geirum Mor and Beag to the south, a situation not dissimilar to the stone circle at the north end of Barra at Scurrival, which looks to South Uist. A smaller circle of c. 1 m diameter is set against the southern inner edge of the main ring, and opposite the only upstanding stone, 0.4 m high, in the circle at the north point.
