Full Description

NF70SW 86 7129 0426

A78: (NF 7129 0426) immediately adjacent to NF70SW 85 is a prominent 2-3m high grassed-over mound with a few blocks of stone showing through the sides, 9 x 7.5m. This appears to be a similar monument to examples found on the Tanagaval peninsula and in the Borve valley, though with less stone visible. they have been interpreted as prehistoric, possibly Iron Age, houses and excavation of an example at NL69NW 57 on the Tanagaval peninsula produced about twenty small sherds of hand-made pottery thought to be Iron Age, and including one rim of Roman Iron Age date.
