Full Description

NF60SE 15 6587 0328.

(NF 6587 0328) Some shell midden exposed here in the stream cutting. (Information from C F Tebbutt, 1959)

Only a few shells were seen in the area indicated by Tebbutt. It is probable that this midden has been recovered by sand.
Visited by OS (W D J) 16 May 1965.

At NF 657 032 [and two other sites] "Erosion patches in blown sand yielded, besides the usual bones, shells and occasional fish vertebrae, iron slag, sherds, hammer stones and flint flakes". There are several circular structures and one rectangular, outlined by irregular blocks of gneiss at this site. Finds deposited in Glasgow Museum and Art Gallery.
J Davies 1971.

No evidence of a shell midden at NF 658 032
