Full Description

(NF 6602 0116) Dun an t-Sleibh (OE)
OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 2nd ed., (1904)

Described by the RCAHMS as completely removed. Scott (L Scott 1947), however, notes that '... the wall is only in part traceable but appears to have been not less thant 10 ft thick and to have enclosed an area not less that 20 ft in diameter. Dimensions and site suggest a broch ...' RCAHMS 1928; L Scott 1947.

All that can be seen at this site is a natural rocky knoll with traces of a curving stony ridge running across it approx. east to west, probably an old field bank. There are no traces to suggest either a dun or a broch.
Revised at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (W D J) 24 May 1965.

B136 (NF660012) Dun an t'Sleibh (RCAHMS 1928: 138, No. 471) is said by RCAHMS to have been completely removed. However, Scott (1947:4) reported traces of a thick wall on this raised rocky hillock and we found remains of the same. The wall foundation is about 3 m wide, and we tentatively traced the remains of an oval structure about 18m x 13 m, with an arc of smaller (later?) wall built against the outside of the thick wall at the west end. Thick-walled prehistoric structure, dun or broch.
