Full Description
NF67SE 4 centred 6940 7100.
(Area: NF 693 708) There are numerous unchambered cairns, most of them within two adjoining walled enclosures, near the centre of Ard an Runair, opposite Hongary. The larger enclosure, to the south, contains about 50 cairns which surround an isolated boulder, Sgeir na Circe, while the northern enclosure contains about 30. There are other cairns, outside the enclosures, towards the west side of Ard an Runair.
E Beveridge 1911.
Area centred NF 6940 7100. These cairns are stone-clear- ance heaps, a few being piled on natural rock. Local enquiries revealed that the entire area had at one time been ploughed and that the enclosures are of no great age.
Visited by OS (W D J) 19 June 1965.
