(NF 7461 1905) Dun na Killie (NR) (Site of)
OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 2nd ed., (1904)

Eilean Buidhe, in Loch Dunakillie, is the site of a dun from which the loch takes its name. The island is surrounded by the remains of a stone wall, of which neither the inner nor outer face is traceable, spread over a width of 9ft in places and about 10ft from the water. In the interior of the dun are the remains of several structures, apparently of a late date.
There is a submerged harbour at the northern corner of the dun and a gap in the south-western wall of the dun suggests another harbour in this position.
A massive causeway, about 9ft broad sweeps from the eastern shore of the loch to the northern corner of the island. It is mostly submerged and there is said to be a gap in it under the water. Twenty five yards
north of its landward end are the remains of a building.
RCAHMS 1928.

The remains of Dun na Killie are generally as described above. A relatively modern building, 6.5m by 4.0m, is built into the NE corner of the dun. There is no trace of a harbour in the northern corner. The remains of the causeway are still visible; the building to the north of its landward end (RCAHMS 1928) is of much later date.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (R D) 15 May 1965.
