Full Description

NF71SE 10 7538 1495.

(Area NF 753149) There are two prostrate stones lying a few feet apart nearer the top of Leavel than the four megaliths (see NF71NE 4). One is about 11ft long the other 12ft 6 ins. "These stones are apparently fallen menhirs." One stone has been damaged by drilling. They are known locally as 'limpet hammers'.
Not far from these stones there is a large boat - shaped stone, 12 1/2ft long, whichresembles a large capstone. It lies east-west on a slight cairn, or bed of earth and small stones.
A Rugg-Gunn 1937.

The two recumbent stones were located at NF 7538 1495. The westernmost stone measures 3.5m long by 0.8m x 0.7m, its east end showing evidence of drilling. The other stone measures 4.0m long x 0.7m x 0.5m. The evidence of drilling suggests stonequarrying; nothing was seen to suggest that they formed part of a stone circle.
The boat-shaped stone lies some 28.0m to the SE of these stones. It measures 4.0m long x 1.5m broad x 0.4m thick and is balanced in the middle on a low pile of small stones. It appears to be rather large for a cap-stone and there is no evidence of a cairn round it. It is possibly a 'rocking stone' but this is doubtful.
