(NF 7515 2091) Sgeir Ghlas (Dun) (NR)
OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 2nd ed., (1904)
The ruins of a dun occupy entirely the islet, Sgeir Ghlas. A mound of stones rises 4 ft. above the water level. There were indications of a causeway to the eastern shore of the loch in 1914. Blundell noted that in 1909 it was "unpassable except as a trial of skill".
RCAHMS 1928; F O Blundell 1913.
Sgeir Ghlas is now almost completely submerged except for five small piles of stones: there are now no identifiable remains of the dun. Fragments of the causeway are still visible.
