Full Description

NF74NE 8 7969 4592.

(NF 7969 4592) A mound of stones, about 4ft high, is all that remains of a dun on an islet near the southern end of Loch an Daill, Carnan, South Uist, some 150 yards east of the main road. There is a deeply submerged causeway, making a considerable bend to the south, connecting the dun to the eastern shore of the loch, some 30 yards away.
RCAHMS 1928.

As described above. There are no surveyable remains.
Visited by OS (R D) 12 May 1965.

There is no structural or artefactual evidence to determine the date of this site, but the amount of loose stone on the islet suggests a substantial building, which would be more characteristic of the Iron Age than of an earlier period. MML 26.1.2000
