Full Description

NF76NW 4 7325 6858.

(Area : NF 733 685) Loch Sandary, half a mile east of Cuithe Lianaclett, probably contained a dun, to be identified with the Dun Loch Shanndaidh mentioned by Thomas (F W L Thomas and T S Muir 1873) 'the stones all taken away for building'.
Beveridge considers the most likely site of this dun to be 'a rounded point at the NW corner of the loch, a promontory which has clearly once formed an island, and now shows a flattish top with rock protruding...' but proof is lacking.
E Beveridge 1911; F W L Thomas and T S Muir 1873; Information from A Carmichael.

There is a promontory similar to that described by Beveridge at NF 7325 6858 but there is nothing to suggest that this is the site of a dun. Visited by OS (J T T) 11 June 1965.
