Abstract/Summary
During the course of road works in 1989 two groups of skeletons were unearthed from sand dunes. Excavation has shown that eleven corpses were deposited in two parallel trenches. The date of the burial is estimated, on the basis of the coin evidence, to be c. 1700. The skeletons were probably all male with a wide span of ages though most died in early adulthood. It seems most likely that they were victims of a shipwreck.
