Full Description

The cevelopment area for the sewage treatment tanks for North Dell lise on the south western side of the only road leading north east from Cross (NB 500 627). The nearest known archaeological site is Dun Mara (NMRS NB 56 SE 5) which lies 0.5 km to the north of the site….
The road was already completed up to the 170m mark prior to arrival and this included an elevated area with potential for archaeological remains. As a was to determine if any archaeological deposits were impacted by the road construction it was suggested that the spoil on the higher edge of the road cut into the side of the hill be scrapped (sic) down to the natural depostion (sic). The need for this became more apparent after speaking with a local resident who remembers the remains of a wall around the 60m mark and also by the recovery of unstratified stone tool making debris from the elevated area.
…The upper edge was scrapped (sic) down.. No remains of a wall could be identified… no negative deposits could be identified… however, during this process more unstratified stone tool making debris was recovered.
